Testimonies From Harvest Church Members

We are so thankful for all the Lord Jesus does in our lives. Here are are some testimonies to the Lord's goodness amongst us.

Cambridge Here I Come!

Rumours about how difficult it is to get into Oxbridge universities and a very intimidating talk by an Oxford lecturer had almost convinced me there was no point applying. I simply decided to focus on getting the best AS level grades I could. In preparing for my exams, I made up a question and answered it. My teacher awarded me good marks for it and I thought no more of it. Astonishingly, the same question came up in one of my papers.

Meanwhile my Mum had been trying to convince me to apply to Oxbridge and I told her that I would apply on the condition that I achieved 4 As at AS. I didn’t think that was possible so I gave it no more thought. Imagine my surprise when results day came and I had 4 As! I started researching the two Oxbridge universities and settled on Cambridge as it ticked more of my boxes. I still felt really intimated though and so asked Pastor Jo and Aunty Ronke to pray for me before the interview. They prayed and told me to simply go and claim my place there in Jesus’ name. More divine intervention as I was asked in the written test about a poem I had revised that morning.

God’s hand was evident every step of the way.  He brought me from self-doubt to being offered a place at the top university for my course and I can only thank Him for it.

“He is able to do immeasurably more than we can ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us” Ephesians 3: 20-21

He Crowned My Efforts With Success!

Juggling a full time job with great responsibility, a family and a full-time postgraduate program seemed like a good idea till I got started. As I walked to College on bitterly cold nights after an exhausting day at work, I sometimes wondered what on earth I had let myself in for. Most nights found me hard at work on my laptop deep into the early hours despite the fact that I had to put in a full day’s work the following day, indeed in the next few hours.

Final exam time came and I simply wasn’t sure I had put in enough, but I literally didn’t have any more time to do so. Time to pray and hand everything over to God. Imagine my shock when the results were released and I had not only passed but made a distinction! I know for certain that this was God crowning my efforts with success. I am forever grateful for His mercy and everlasting love. Indeed He delights in the prosperity of His servants!

Favour Opened The Door

I’d like to give thanks to the Lord for His hand of favour on our 10 year old daughter who gained admission to her first choice of secondary school – Nicholas Breakspear in St Albans.

Even though we’re not Catholic, after attending the school open day in October last year we were impressed with their high standards and culture of excellence and selected it as our first choice.

God says ‘I will make a way where there seems to be no way and cause rivers to flow in the desert..’. When the admission results came out our daughter Rumbi was offered a place in her first choice school. Many children do not get offers for any of their top three choices and Nicholas Breakspear is a very popular school. God truly is amazing; He does the impossible with the improbable for those who put their trust in Him. To Him be all the glory (Amen)

Saved From Serious Injury

One Friday in March 2010, I was attempting to board a train at Harrow & Wealdstone station when the doors suddenly shut, knocking me flying. As I fell, I hit my head on a pole and landed heavily on my chest. I was unable to speak for several minutes. I felt so ill, I was convinced I had sustained great injuries especially considering my age (70) and my current difficulties.

I am pleased to report that aside from whiplash and some muscular spasms, I was unhurt. No broken bones, no permanent damage! Glory be to God - two months later the pain is much improved, I am once again able to look after myself and I am back in church!

I am grateful for His hand of protection upon me - indeed He is faithful. Hallelujah!

 My Leg Grew!

I would like to give thanks to the Lord because His mercies endure forever! I remember being ill when I was 5 years old and my granny who was then a nurse gave me an injection which went totally wrong; as a result, my left leg withdrew and ended up being shorter than the right one. I was not conscious of this until I became a teenager and the way I looked mattered to me. I was always hiding my leg, wearing trousers and covering up. Even though it wasn't obvious to many, I always felt embarrassed. I got born again when I was 14 years old and prayed constantly for my healing. My miracle then was self-acceptance as God told me I was fearfully and wonderfully made. I forgot totally about this embarrassment and carried on with my life.

At an all night service here in Harvest, Pastor Lawrence Tetteh called for someone with one leg shorter than the other. I remember telling God I was fine but He told me that He hears every little prayer even when we think it's no longer relevant. I went up to the podium and closed my eyes since everyone was looking, but my husband who was by my side witnessed my leg grow as Pastor Tetteh prayed for me. I opened my eyes and to my surprise my leg was restored! Up till today I still check out my leg to remember the goodness of God to a teenage girl then and what He has done for me now. Every intricate detail of our lives matters to God and He hears us when we pray. He proved to me that even when we forget, He doesn't forget His promises. He is a Father who doesn't fail! Amen!
